Knowing where you’re having your wedding is just as important as getting married itself. This is because if you do not have a wedding venue that is suitable for your specific style, your entire wedding could be “off.” Finding wedding venues can sometimes be a difficult task, however, there are several steps that can make this process easier and faster. Wedding venues will vary greatly depending on where you live. While in some cities there may be several amazing wedding venues, in others there may be only one or two.

You will want to make sure that you begin searching wedding venues at least one to two years in advance of your wedding. While this may seem like too soon to start looking for wedding venues, you may be surprised that many of these locations must be booked a year in advance. If you want to have a Saturday wedding, you will need to make sure that you inform your potential wedding venues of this because many of these locations will have a waiting list. A good rule of thumb is the sooner you can begin searching out wedding venues the better.

Knowing where to begin your search for wedding venues can sometimes be confusing. However, the best place to start is to search the Internet and your local Yellow Pages. Of course, word-of-mouth is the best way to find certain wedding venues. In order to ensure your satisfaction with your wedding venue, you will want to speak with a couple that has had their wedding their before. If you are unable to speak directly with these individuals you will most likely be able to read their reviews of a particular wedding venue on the Internet. After you have found several wedding venues that you are interested in viewing, you will want to call the venue and set up an in-person tour.

When you arrive at this wedding venue tour, you will want to make sure to bring a notepad and pen so you can take notes about the location. This is very important if you are seeing more than one wedding venue in a single day because after a while, the locations seem to all look the same. Once you arrive at the wedding venues you will want to begin taking note of several things. The first is how well is the parking lot constructed? If you are having a larger wedding, you will need to ensure there are ample amounts of parking for all of your guests. Also, you will want to ask yourself if the wedding venues are easily seen by drivers, or will your guests simply drive past it?

You will also want to ensure that the actual wedding venues are clean, well lit and have enough seating for the size of your wedding. Also, make sure that before you have arrived at the various wedding venues you have made a list of several questions for the venues. These questions may be whether or not the reception area has room for a band/DJ as well as whether or not there is air conditioning or heat readily available.
